Finally a new Resident Evil appears and it’s a good one, 2012’s revelations was a handheld game and had its limitations the PS3 and Xbox360 port were more than a good game but still a port. Join Claire and Barry in their journey for survival, as we take a look at Resident Evil Revelations 2 episode 1.

The beginning of the Resident Evil Revelations 2 tale sees fan favorite Claire Redfield make a dramatic return. Survivor of the Raccoon City incident depicted in previous Resident Evil games, Claire now works for the anti-bioterrorism organization Terra Save. Moira Burton, is attending her welcome party for Terra Save when unknown armed forces storm the office. Claire and Moira are knocked unconscious and awaken later to find themselves in a dark and abandoned detention facility. Working together, they must find out who took them and to what sinister end. With the terrifying Afflicted enemies waiting around every dark corner, players will need to use their ammo and weapon supply wisely, in classic survival horror style. Will Claire and Moira make it out alive and discover what’s led to them being taken to this remote island?

Claire’s Story

Claire Redfield is one of the few people known to have survived the destruction of Raccoon City in 1998. It was her first time to witness the effects that bioweapons can have on people. Following the incident she joined a non-government organization, Terra Save, dedicated to helping victims of biological and chemical weapons. She travels to the world’s hotspots helping those who have suffered. One day, the NGO is attacked by unknown assailants. Claire and her co-workers are kidnapped and taken to a deserted island
In 2011 the headquarters of the NGO is attacked by unknown assailants. Claire and her co-workers, including its latest member Moira Burton, are kidnapped and taken to a deserted island. Claire and Moira wake up in prison cells on this island. Before they can even figure out where they are or what’s going on, they see one of their co-workers ripped to shreds by some kind of monster. Will they be able to escape from the horrors that surround them, or will they meet their end on this island of horrors?

Barry’s Story

A man with plenty of military experience. His real career started when he joined Raccoon City’s elite police force known as S.T.A.R.S. and was involved in the original Raccoon City incident. Currently he’s an advisor for an anti-bioterrorism organization, known as the BSAA. Now he’s only concerned with one thing: finding his daughter Moira. Barry’s daughter Moira has disappeared – her last known whereabouts an island in the middle of nowhere and he’s determined to save her. There he finds a little girl who calls herself Natalia.
Barry soon realizes that she’s not an ordinary little girl, and together they traverse the dangerous island in search of answers and hoping for a miracle.

While the story is set in the Resident evil universe it’s much better than previous installments, there is a sense of mystery that feels larger than life itself. Where previous Resident Evil titles where mega serious and over complicated, now there’s an amusing and dark humor present, which makes the whole feel a lot more lifelike.

Resident Evil Revelations 2 can be played in Co-op from the start, which makes the whole experience of teaming up on both sides of story even better. You could let the A.I. play as your partner but like in previous installments the A.I. isn’t always as good as you had hoped. Each Partner has a skill that’s needed in combat or exploration, Moira’s flashlight can be used to blind enemies and find objects, while Natalia can crawl through small spaces, throw bricks, and use her “senses” to see enemies before Barry can. In my opinion it would have been better if there were more Co-op puzzles in Revelations but it’s more combat orientated, you’ll need to cooperate as a team in order to survive.

Raid Mode
The Artificial Intelligence known as Red Queen Alpha has constructed a dangerous virtual reality. It’s only purpose is to test the limits of your endurance. Can you survive this twisted experiment?
Raid Mode, the fan-favorite from the first Revelations game, is back. Unlike the horror-themed story mode, Raid Mode is an action-packed game, featuring new and improved monsters and even some old reappearing golden oldies. Mod your weapons, raise your skills, customize your character, and master the mission. Episode one comes with as much content as there was in the whole of the first Revelations’ Raid Mode, and once all of the content’s been released, there will be three times as much as there was in the original. Each character has their own skill set, you can choose the skills you want and upgrade them in the way you think is best. You will gain different abilities depending on how you combine skills. You have more than 20 unique weapons at your disposal, which you can upgrade with different parts and special ammo types. You can play Raid Mode on your own or via Couch or online Co-op. Each episode of Revelations 2 will bring new stages, items and other content to Raid Mode. What’s more fun than shooting a pair of brainless enemies?

Resident Evil Revelations 2 episode 1 set a nice vibe and showed some improvements compared to the previous Revelations, it’s not a perfect game and while some environments seemed a bit boring it all felt like a better Resident Evil then we are used to, well except the original. We’re excited for episode 2 which will hit the Online stores next week.
