During Gamescom 2015 we had a behind closed doors session with Destiny’s biggest expension The Taken King. I only have one thing to say about The Taken King, Damn it I have to start playing Destiny again.

Destiny was released in September 2014 and was on my to do list for quite some time. I’ve spent more hours than I could miss in the first week of Destiny’s release. Destiny was a great game with even better features. After a while, around the time the dark below launched, I lost interest in the game.
From this point on I haven’t spent a single minute playing Destiny I haven’t played the House of Wolves expansion or any of the new things to do in Destiny.

Destiny: The Taken King offers a great amount of added gameplay to the impressive amount of gameplay allready available in Destiny. The Taken King is reported to have twice the amount of content as the Dark below expansion, powerfull new abilities, new campaign, new activites and new rewards.

New powerfull abilities:

To battle back the Darkness and the Taken army, players will get brand new subclasses with new supers. Warlocks will now harness the power of an electric storm, Hunters will carve a bow formed from gravitational void energy, and Titans will summon a flaming hammer that can sear their adversaries from a range or deliver a devastating melee impact.

Titan: The new subclass: Sunbreaker is available. Incendiary siege engines of war, Sunbreaker Titans hammer and shatter their enemy’s ranks from afar, raining cleansing fire down upon fortified defensive positions.

Warlock: The new subclass: Stromcaller is available. Stormcallers directly maipulate Arc energy, focusing body and mind to channel and chain the lightning. their enemies are given fair warning- flee from battle, or face the storm.

Hunter: The new subclass: Nightstalker is available. All Hunters master the frontier, but none claim territory quite like a Nightstalker. Shadowshot binding may seem more merciful than gun or blade… until the feeding frenzy begins.

New Campaign

A massive Hive Dreadnaught ship looms in the rings of Saturn. Oryx, The Taken King has arrived in our solar system, bringing with him a corrupted army to exact revenge on the Guardians who destroyed his son Crota, and to consume our worlds. Arm yourself with newfound abilities, weapons, and gear. Defeat the Taken hordes. Make your way aboard the Dreadnaught, and face Oryx himself within his inner sanctum.

The Coming War
During our hands-on time we could experience the first brand new campaign mission available in The Taken King; The Coming War. Your Guardian, in my case the Warlock, is sent to the distant planet Phobos to research a mysterious base where strange things happen. Once you’re on Phobos things become clear, some dark presence is at work here.

The one responsible for these strange things is Oryx, The Taken King. In The Dark Below you battled and killed his son Crota leaving Oryx with an appetite for vengeance. Oryx disappears leaving you with some of his mindless minions. After shooting the minions and clearing the mission the Demo was over.

We did however had time to replay the demo with all the classes which made the whole experience even more worthwhile. The Taken king will let you further level your character, the maximum is now set to level 20, adding light will get you to level 34. The new subclasses look and feel great and I’m realy excited to play with my Warlock again.

The Story behind Oryx

Some scholars say that it was the vile “children” of Oryx that first crawled from the ashes, post-Collapse. His brood grew quietly, but quickly enough, spawning armies of Hive loyal to their King deep within the caverns and shadows of our worlds. Among them was Crota, the god-Knight whose offspring poisoned our Moon.

Crota and his army would have infected the Earth were it not for the efforts of Eris Morn, and the Guardians who heeded her warnings. Now, Crota is dead – body and soul extinguished by your hand.
Oryx, armed with a dark power beyond anything we’ve yet to face, is coming to claim his revenge.

Oryx wields the ability to control a twisted army of vile corruptions known as the Taken. These new enemies have been wholly consumed possessed by the Darkness, bodies and mind twisted into service of their King. Now, they are bent to a singular purpose – our eradication.

The Dreadnaught’s massive, impenetrable hull is feared to house a dark labyrinthine lair – pathways to ancient Hive who have pledged their loyalty to Oryx and use their inscrutable Shrines to empower and protect their King. You will be the first to venture within. You will be the first to face them.

Destiny: The Taken King offers a great amount of new features and for me it reawakened my interest in Destiny. I’m currently redownloading and Installing Destiny and it’s expansions to prepare for The Taken King, are you prepared?
