Shadows of Kurgansk, can you survive the horror?

Shadows of Kurgansk is about to go live on steam early acces tomorrow and we’ve been given the opportunity to have a pre-early acces first look at this new game.

Shadows of Kurgansk is an adventure game, where you need to survive in an area full of danger and mystery. Your goal is to stay alive and find the way out, fighting monsters and completing story driven missions.

To stay alive you will need to hunt, gather supplies, build storage and asylums. You will be able to create tools, clothes and equipment.

In due time your life will become quite comfortable, but the Zone is not exactly the best place to spend the rest of your time.

You will need to find the way out. Needless to say, the Zone will never be a safe place to hide, therefore players must find a way out of it as quickly as possible. Search, hunt and discover to stay alive.Even if you fail, remember – death is only the beginning. The beginning of a new journey!

My first thoughts on the game are mixed. I like the style of the graphics. They are a little bit cartoony. The mix of cartoony graphics and a horror survival game give’s it a nice unique twist.

The physics of the game are clumsy. When you cut a tree it doesn’t fall down naturally. Enemies die like a stiff doll.

Sometimes you don’t know what you are doing or what you are supposed to do. The story, at this point, is still very thin. I Like the survival part of the game. A lot of crafting can be done. You can make your own shelter, cook your own food, create your own tools and weapons. That was the fun part for me.

I think the competition in horror-survival world will be hard for Shadows of Kurgansk although I am sure people can have a lot of fun with this game. If you are into horror survival games and into supporting them from early on, then give Shadows of Kurgansk a fair chance. Just check out the trailer:
