Ain't no thing like me, except me. I am the biggest half behind this website and love to write about my deep love for fighting games, (J)RPG's and Destiny. Really do not like Call of Duty and absolutely love pizza.
I’ve said it before and I will say it many more times ; I absolutely love the Warriors series and I like the team’s licensed games even more. We already had the opportunity to play the team’s previous licensed games Dragon Quest Heroes, Arslan, A.O.T. Wings of Freedom, One Piece: Pirate Warriors and Hyrule Warriors. In a few weeks the team’s next project, Berserk and the band of the Hawk will release. We’re here to give you a small gameplay preview and my first thoughts on the game and it’s setting.
The game’s story will Start from the well-known and popular “Golden Age Arc”,and it’ll go all the way until the end of the“Millennium Falcon Arc”. You will also be able to join Guts and his newest companions on his journey of revenge through “The Hawk of the Millennium Arc”. Additionally, the extensive story includes an impressive amount of artwork, including footage from the actual animation movie trilogy and new, original scenes portraying more detailed interactions between the members of the Band of the Hawk and other characters. The Characters are voiced by their respective voice talents from the upcoming movie and anime, making the game feel more like part of the series instead of a later addition to the series and helps to deepen immersion into the game’s story.
The game mixes the action of cutting through hundreds of enemies, fundamental to the Warriors series, together with the dark and gruesome atmosphere of the world of “Berserk”, making various acts possible, such as using a giant man-sized sword to cut enemies in half, as well as smash or send them flying with the “Slash” and “Smash” actions. During the combat phase of the game, you’ll experience powerful actions combining the action of a Warriors title with the riveting world of Berserk. Just like in previous Warriors titles, the more you fight the more brutal and gruesome your new attacks will become. Eventually, you’ll be able to slash monsters in two with a single strike. Some characters have the ability to perform “transformation” and temporarily boost their offensive abilities and speed, becoming more powerful than before.
Below you’ll find video’s of the game’s first two chapters to show you the game’s unique style combined with Omega Force’s action based gameplay. It’s clear that the game offers a darker and more gritty style than the studio’s previous titles, one that really suits the licensed franchise. I for one really like this style and my first impression of the game is pretty good. It makes me eager for more and interested in the source material since I’ve never heard of the manga and anime before. The game plays like any other Warriors game, only it feels a bit slower and brutal.
The game features a game mode called, Endless Eclipse this mode is where you’ll slay countless enemies while completing various missions you are assigned while in the ominous Eclipse dimension. More on the game’s multiple game modes can be found in the game’s review once it goes live (somewhere around February 21st).
Berserk and the Band of the Hawk will come to the PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and PC in North America on February 21, 2017, followed by a European release on February 24, 2017. For more info on the game you can visit the game’s official website.
